Hook Up Trolling Motor Parts Batteries

Becoming stranded in the water is not the way to enjoy a trip on your boat. Choose the correct battery for your Trolling Motor Parts, to avoid becoming stranded. Finding the correct battery will ensure that you have enough power to suit your needs.

1 Turn off the trolling motor, or put it in the neutral position.

2 Remove the wing nuts, by hand or using pliers, from the positive and negative battery terminals. If your trolling motor cables have crimp connections, loosen the connectors with a wrench or socket set (typically 8mm or 10mm) and slide it off the terminal.

3 Place the red (+) lead wire from the trolling motor on the red (+) battery terminal and firmly tighten the wing nut with your hand. Do not overtighten.

4 Place the black (-) lead wire from the Kayak Motor on the black (-) battery terminal and firmly tighten the wing nut with your hand. Do not overtighten. If your trolling motor has crimp connections, repeat the steps above, but tighten with a wrench or socket set.

5 Test the connection. The prop of the trolling motor should be clear of any hands or objects. Then turn on the trolling motor, and/or switch the motor to the first forward speed position. If the prop is running in reverse, the lead wires are hooked to the wrong battery terminals. Remove the lead wires and start over with step 1.
